Location: Ho Chi Minh City, Viet Nam
  Industry: Chemicals & Petroleum

Client Background:

Bien Dong Petroleum Operating Co. (BDPOC), an affiliate of the state-owned Vietnam Oil and Gas Group, participates in the exploration, production, storage and delivery of gas and petroleum products for the southeast region of Vietnam. The company was founded in 2010 and is based in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam.

Business Need:

Bien Dong Petroleum Operating Co. (BDPOC) wanted to streamline operations and business processes from its head office in Ho Chi Minh City and supply base in Vung Tau, Vietnam, to offshore facilities. The company sought to develop an enterprise asset-management application.

Solution:

BDPOC engaged IBM Premier Business Partner Avenue Business Solutions Joint Stock Company to build an enterprise asset-management platform based on IBM Maximo Asset Management software.

To efficiently support the new asset-management platform, the client implemented five IBM System x3650 M4 servers. BDPOC uses three System x3650 M4 servers as the onshore servers, with individual servers supporting the client’s Oracle Database software, application system and development/testing system, respectively. The fourth server supports the MaxiSun interface, built with help from Avenue Business Solutions’ business partner to integrate the Maximo software and the client’s Sun financial system. The fifth server acts as the offshore server running the client’s offshore database and applications.

IBM provided the software and servers, while Avenue Business Solutions provided implementation and maintenance services. In addition, the team helped the client synchronize data between its onshore and offshore servers. Avenue Business Solutions sold the solution and provided Maximo software training services for the client’s core team, administrators and users. The Business Partner also provided 3-month post-support services for the client.

The client uses the Maximo Asset Management software to effectively manage its inventory, maintenance tasks, procurement activities and invoicing processes through the comprehensive MaxiSun interface to the Sun financial system.

Benefits of the Solution:

By engaging IBM Premier Business Partner Avenue Business Solutions to implement IBM Maximo software, supported on an IBM System x server platform running a Linux operating system, BDPOC gained a highly efficient enterprise asset-management platform. This platform allows the client to achieve full maintenance control from the start of operations to the end and optimize vendor, inventory and equipment resources. The solution seamlessly integrates with the client’s Sun financial system, helping the client enhance budget control and achieve centralized procurement. In addition, the solution facilitated the work of users; managers now have more accurate data for analysis and decision making.
